In this workshop, you will learn how to safely use simple hand tools such as rasps, files, carving gouges, hammer and stamps to create surface textures and chip-carving patterns. We will also learn how to use milk-paint for various colorations and learn sophisticated sanding and finishing techniques on wood. By the end of the workshop, we will turn your many small sample pieces into functioning objects like drawer pull knobs, coat pegs, or wall hanging decorations and magnets. This exploration into shape, color and texture will become the basis for surfaces of objects and furniture forms in your future.
